So, how much did it cost to publish that? I was told to use the SD Business Journal, but they ended up being fairly expensive. I'd imagine the Union-Trib was on the expensive side as well.
I definitely should have shopped around, but I was feeling lazy. Very expensively lazy, it would seem. The final bill for running that ad four times is.... [drumroll]... $496. (That being above and beyond the $320 court filing fee, of course.)
Holy mother of fuck! That is insane. Is it just me, or does it seem a bit disenfranchising to require a newspaper ad in order to change a name? Some people don't make $816 in a month, and to be expected to drop all this loot just to get permission from the government for something they really shouldn't have any say in is a bit fucked up, IMHO.SDBJ was like $200 if I recall correctly. Still way more than I wanted to spend. Good thing I'm privileged enough to have a credit card...
